SE0, PPC and Social Media - Which is best for you?


At Berlin Web Studio we do more than design gorgeous and effective websites, we also help people get their sites noticed by customers and by Google.

Getting noticed by Google is something you really want for you site; but in a good way.  You don't want Google removing you from its page rankings because you've broken one of their ever-changing rules!

Google has certain algorithms, or rules it uses to decide what pages and what sites can be ranked and what cannot.  They tend to have cute names like Panda or Penguin, but if you are on the wrong side of these rules, it can have devastating effects on the effectiveness of your website; such as dropping you from a page one Google Search result to no result at all!

Things that worked really well in the past: keyword stuffing, anchor links etc, are now seriously frowned upon by Google.  We know that.  Our SEO experts keep up to date with the latest Google rules and know how to get you the best results possible without breaking Google's rules.  

Unfortunately, some of the so-called SEO experts out there still only think of one thing when it comes to SEO, and that is repeating your keywords again and again and again.  No-one likes this.  Not visitors, not potential customers and especially not Google.

There is still a huge place for Search Engine Optimisation, but now it has to be done in a more skilful way by people who know how to use SEO correctly, so that it enhances your site, get your site ranked highly in search results, attracts visitors and turns them into clients. 

SEO is a long-time, cost-effective strategy which, when done correctly, brings long-term results. This is why we recommend SEO to all our clients.

It isn't however, the only strategy we employ.

Pay Per Click

In some cases, we would advise you to combine SEO with a Pay per Click (PPC) approach to build interest in your site.  This can be especially advantageous if you are entering a niche category with several authority websites.

In fact, a report published today by Wordstream found that PPCs account for 64.6% of clicks for keyword searches that imply high commercial intent.  What's more, if advertisers buy ads for keywords for which they already rank well organically, via SEO means, 89% of traffic generated by the search ads is new traffic outside of organic reach.  In other words, using PPC alone is very effective, but if you combine it with SEO you are practically guaranteed increased traffic to your site and hence, more potential clients.

Social Media

We also advise our clients to set up a social media presence too.  "The rise of social media is both the biggest business communications challenge and opportunity in decades," said Bill Margaritis, senior vice president of Global Communications and Investor Relations at FedEx in a report on the use of Social Media by Business.  "Younger audiences in particular expect to interact with businesses this way."

The report found that those companies who currently use social media find that it is particularly effective at strengthening relationships among customers (51%), the general public (52%) and partners and suppliers (40%). 

In fact, the use of social media as a marketing tool is growing rapidly and our experts can show you how to set up your social media presence, how to maintain it and how to gain followers in as short a time as possible.
